The indoor/outdoor
carpets are usually made to last longer, they too get dirty and require
periodic cleaning. Here are some helpful tips to keep these kinds of carpets clean. Since these types of carpets are usually stain proof, oil spills will do
the trick. Oil based spills will cling to the fibers of the carpet and will not
budge. If you have a lighter colored carpet, an oil based spill will appear in
a murky grey color. If you want to get rid of the stain, clean the spot with
either stain remover or a mixture of one part want and one part vinegar
solution. This is one of the few homemade mixtures that you should really use
to clean a stain. Even though it may appear as if you removed the stain, these
types of stains stick in the carpets at the bottom. That is why after removing
the stain, wait for it to dry and then vacuum the carpet a couple time to get
all of the dirt and grime out from the bottom of it. Just don't forget to
vacuum the spots after taking out the stains, or you will have them back when
it rains, or the carpet gets wet. And remember: Always test on an inconspicuous area first to make sure solution won't damage your carpet or area rug.
