How to remove grass stains from your carpet.

When you spend quite a bit of time outside, have kids, cut the grass, or do anything else involving the outdoors, grass stains on your carpets are inevitable. You do not notice when the stain happens and are unaware that you would be making a stain. When grass is stuck on the bottom of your shoes and you walk across a carpet there will be grass stains when you look back at it. The best way to take our grass stains is with ammonia based spot cleaner. Grab a clean, unbleached cloth and dab it in the cleaner. Blot the stains on your carpet several times and then leave it alone and do not walk on it. The stain remover will automatically start working by breaking down the stain and dirt in the carpet. Wait a couple hours, and check if the stain remover is working like it is supposed to be working. When you see the stains slowly disappearing, blot them again lightly and gently and leave it alone for another few hours. By doing this process 2-3 times should be enough to remove the stains. If you see no improvement after doing this process a couple time it is time to call in a professional carpet cleaning company to remove the stains for you. And remember: Always test on an inconspicuous area first to make sure solution won't damage your carpet or area rug.

How to remove scuff marks.

Realistically anything can cause scuff marks. Shoes, furniture, ladders, and just about any other item with a hard rubber bottom. These marks are messy and unattractive, and they appear on most types of hardwood flooring over time. Here are a few different way to remove scuff marks simply, easily and cost efficiently. A small scuff can be erased with a plain old eraser. Just rub the eraser on the scuff mark until it disappears. If you have lighter flooring try to find a white eraser because a pink one may cause residue. Another good remover is simply a tennis ball. For small smudges just attach the tennis ball too a broom stick and just rub it on the scuff mark. After you finish this the tennis ball will be dirty so try not to play with it around the house. Another option is covering it in baking soda and vinegar. Wait a little but until it makes a paste and then let it sink in. Wait about 10 minutes and then rub it off with a paper towel or cloth. Lastly, you can use a regular toothbrush to take away the scuff mark. You can apply any type of toothpaste and then brush the mark in a circular motion. You can either use a toothbrush or a cloth. When you're done use a wet cloth to wipe away the excess toothpaste. Using these methods should get rid of most of your scuff marks fairly simply and easily. And remember: Always test on an inconspicuous area first.

Cleaning up pet urine

Many pet owners have to deal with urine stains all the time. Sometime their pets can hold it and just go inside the home or any other reasons. Regardless, no one wants to deal with the smell of pet urine because let's face it, it's disgusting. Once your pet has urinated onto the carpet, it starts to attract bacteria which is what causes the odor. If you don't clean it up correctly your pet will return to the same spot and urinate again since they can smell it. This problem is something you can't take lightly, because the urine can soak through the carpet, and down into the underpad. Make sure to clean up the stain immediately. If you noticed it after it has dried out, use water and vinegar to make the spot wet again. Soak up as much liquid as you can using a clean dry towel and applying downwards pressure. If there is still a bit that you cannot get out, stand on the towel until no more moisture appears on the towel. It is important to clean all of the bacteria that comes with the stain using a carpet cleaning product that cleans that up. It is usually an antibacterial solution that kills the bacteria and neutralizes the odor. And remember: Always test on an inconspicuous area first to make sure solution won't damage your particular carpet.

Helpful tips to prevent frozen pipes and water damage

One of the worst things to happen over the winter is having frozen pipe damage. This damage can be very costly and can make winter more miserable than it already is. Here are a few ways to keep your pipes from freezing over the winter. Firstly, you can leave the water trickling so that there is always constant water flowing through your pipes. Make sure it is just a trickle because if you leave a stream it can raise your utility bills. You can also open the doors under the sink to let warm air in, so that it also helps keep the pipes unfrozen. If you have any water connections outside, make sure to close off the water so that there is no extra water in the pipes while it isn't being used in the winter. If your pipes have been frozen do not attempt to thaw them yourself. Do not use any electrical appliances or heaters to try and thaw them because that may cause even more damage rather than helping the situation. Call your local plumber and have him assess the situation. If you end up with frozen pipes in your home, don't panic and just call the local plumber to solve this issue. Make sure to leave it alone and not attempt to fix it yourself unless you know exactly how to and are trained.
